we havent had a lan party in ages. like.. years. decades, even. we need to do this either next weekend ( 1 week from now, march 6 ) or 2 weeks after that, because my birthday is march 19, which is that friday, and you fuckers are all going to explode because i said so.
this weekend we are in super hyper game dev mode, ryan has declared it. get ready to lan party after that. i'm thinking we could pirate supcom 2, or maybe just play the original starcraft a bunch. we've got an assload of spare machines, now that i have a spare one (2 if the games are old) and ryan of course has like 20 computers.
Not just bigfoot. A robotic alien bigfoot played by Andre the Giant... vs the 6 million dollar man. With awesome sound effects, like the mortar shell sound whenever one of them gets thrown. Seriously, I think a 10 year old kid was the head writer for that show.
WOO! I suggest the weekend of 17th - 19th ! ... cause this coming weekend I have my parents in town. That's just me tho ... I'd like to get some Sup Com 2 in ... Tried to play the Demo via Steam. Ran it once, configured video ... now it crashes on every load. I've deleted and re-downloaded it 5 times with no luck. I think I had enabled multiple monitor mode ... if I could 'restore defaults' it may work, ideas?
Does that surprise you, given how buggy the previous versions were? The only way I would even consider buying SupCom 2 would be if they fixed the damned multi-player code. Otherwise it's functionally only a single player game.
restore defaults by deleting the game prefs file out of something like /my docs/my games/gas powered games/supreme commander. this is why i'm talking about pirating supcom2. i really dont feel like paying for yet another totally broken GPG product. supcom and demigod were enough of a pain in the ass already.
i'm all for the weekend of the 17th-19th, that means it'll start on wednesday and lead into the rest of the weekend. i like long weekends. lets do it. primetime said so.
Mentioned it to Chip at our SCCA meeting. He said he can't get away from the family to LAN, but might play online with us some. Maybe we can get Mikey or Jason to come over though.
Paul thanks, that worked ... found the game pref file. So I played the first demo mission ... I have to say the new graphics are pretty sweet. Some nudging / collision of sea unit in close quarters kinda sucks... But it looks pretty. Several UI reorganizations that I'm not sure I'm fond of ... of course I went into it with out any knowledge of the changes so I was surprised by them.
Thought these guys in particular fit in, and are from NY. Anamanaguchi (NYC) is a 4-piece, hyper-melodic, hyper-positive 8-bit punk band. Founded by high school friends in the suburbs of New York, Anamanaguchi conjures up adventures with cascading squarewaves and arena guitars.
I kinda invited Special Eddy. I didn't invite Toot-Tone yet. Or Barry. Barry may still be lurking here, so we may assume that he's seen this thread. :)
Dan J. may or may not be able to stop by. His b-day is.. I think the 18th. Vanish (Chris) also has a birthday around here, like the 17th maybe?
