Alright you people who've painted their homes. We are slowly resigning to the fact [after talking with a realtor today] that we aren't going to be able to sell our house any time soon [thanks to the insane amount of townhomes put up in Ankeny in the last few years], therefore no bigger house for us yet.
Instead, we're thinking of reorganizing the house and FINALLY painting. I know someone borrowed stuff from someone, I don't suppose we could borrow some stuff as well if/when we get around to doing this [in the not too distant future]?? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaase?
I hired it done. I got the whole interior painted in a couple of days, where it would have taken me much longer to do it myself. That also included a bunch of plaster repairs, because it was an old house w/ plaster on lath walls.
I just helped my older sister buy a house. It may be an awful time to sell, but still be on the lookout for steals on the market from people more desperate than you to get out of the area. The crash has left many relocators and empty nesters totally screwed, and loan interest rates are weak enough that you could get away with pretty easy mortgage payments if you get enough down upfront.
Lowballing is always the key. If you can undercut the asking price on a property by a ton and tell sellers that it's all you have because the economy is crap and then flash them cute baby pictures (leveraging liquid psycho-capital) you may just find someone willing to strike a deal before the real estate corporation can step in and do a big mark up, and then you could just sublet your first place if you can smurf up some money without enslaving yourselves to the bank or selling your organs.
On the other hand putting up lots of bids is time consuming and if you don't want to risk getting smurfed in the smurfing smurf if the smurfing economy or job market goes smurf (further), there is nothing wrong with consolidation either. The kids' college funds, retirement fund, emergency medical fund, a babysitter and dates with each other, diversifying your stock portfolio, vacation and Christmas savings, better house savings, yada yada yada. Money good.
Yup, like Sam said, they have all our paint stuff but we could pass along when they're done. Whenever our bathroom remodel is almost done we're going to repaint (the bathroom) so sometime in the next few months we'd need the supplies again.
I knew I could count on you, Will, to pipe in with some tips
We just decided to stick it out for now and look in to it again next summer, we're screwed either way we go really.
It definitely wouldn't be this weekend that we painted, we must first go through the bargaining phase of choosing paint colors. It will definitely be before you guys would need it back, Holly.
If anyone is just dying to help paint [or babysit ], there could be free food in it for you
i like babies! ...but i seem to work EVERY weekend. but you could always ask. occasionally i get a random weekend day off, but normally i get wednesdays (i'm working 6 days a week to bring in extra money right now).
For the fans of interior decorating the new place I am trying to move to has quite the picture tour. I like the apartment with the M.C. Escher feel to it but I am a bit worried I would constantly crack my head on every nearby surface...
Oh yeah, that's right! I think Dave Champion's illustrious presence more than makes up for Anthony Swofford. Jarhead wasn't wonderful but the movie adaptation was a sickening propaganda travesty IMO.
